In 2017, Celia Burks faced an unimaginable loss — the passing of her beloved son, Jarqavus Trayvon Bradford, who lost his battle with depression. What began as deep heartbreak became a powerful mission to bring light to others still struggling in the dark.
Out of that pain, JTB Hope Foundation Inc. was born — a beacon of hope, healing, and help for youth and families in need. Celia chose not to be defined by grief, but to transform it into grace. She turned her sorrow into service, dedicating her life to supporting others so that no child would suffer in silence as her son once did.
Through the foundation, Celia and her team provide life-saving support, mentorship, school supplies, scholarships, and safe spaces for youth facing crisis and hardship. What started as one mother’s way to honor her son’s memory has grown into a movement of compassion and community — a mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health and to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and loved.
JTB Hope Foundation Inc. continues to stand as a living tribute to Jarqavus — a reminder that from the deepest pain can come the greatest purpose, and from grief, everlasting hope.
